Swim. Bike. Run. Or Bring a Team. Wales' Toughest Coastal Triathlon Returns to Broad Haven.

The Pembrokeshire Coast Triathlon brings a full field of swimmers, cyclists and runners to Broad Haven, a stretch of golden sand at the southern end of St Brides Bay inside the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Race the full standard distance (1.5k open water swim, 42k bike, 10k run), take on the swim-and-bike-only Aquabike, or split the distance across a relay team of two or three.

This is a serious test — the bike course climbs over 400m through rolling Pembrokeshire lanes, and the run's opening 3k along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path adds another 130m of climbing, with sweeping views over St Bride's Bay before you're back on the seafront. The event regularly forms part of the Welsh Triathlon Super Series (broadcast on S4C) and has hosted the Welsh Standard Distance Championships, so expect a genuinely competitive field alongside plenty of first-timers.

❤️ Support the Boardwalk
This year's race is once more raising funds for Support the Boardwalk. Net proceeds from the event go towards developing triathlon in Pembrokeshire through Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club.

  • Electronic chip timing
  • Finisher's medal

Team & Relay
  • Relay teams of 2 or 3 are encouraged and welcome, splitting the swim, bike and run between teammates

  • A dedicated relay changeover area is set up in transition — your timing chip acts as your baton between teammates
The Course
  • Swim (1.5k): a rectangular open water course close to shore, never more than 200m out, at Broad Haven. Sea temperature is typically 14–16°C on race day, so wetsuits are likely to be compulsory
  • Bike (42k): mainly rural Pembrokeshire roads with over 400m of climbing, plus some fast flat sections on the return leg from Haverfordwest. Roads stay open to traffic throughout, so normal road rules apply
  • Run (10k): starts with 130m of climbing along the scenic Pembrokeshire Coast Path, with views over St Bride's Bay, before quiet country lanes bring you back to the seafront at Broad Haven for the finish
Entry Requirements
  • Minimum age: 17+ on 31st December 2027
  • You'll need British Triathlon membership with a Race Licence (Core or Ultimate), or purchase a Race Pass.  Overseas residents must show proof of third-party liability insurance instead.
  • Field capped at 400 competitors
  • Swim cut-off: 1 hour. Bike cut-off: 3 hours from your start time, to be allowed onto the run.
  • Entries close at midnight on the Friday 11 June, or when the event fills — whichever comes first

  •
Safety & Rules
  • The event is permitted by British Triathlon and run under British Triathlon Competition Rules, strictly enforced on the day by Technical Officials
  • The bike course is on open roads — normal rules of the road apply throughout
  • Medical cover and marshals are on course throughout the event
